Catch up!

Once upon a time I actually updated this ole blog of mine.

We had Mardi Gras break last week, and this week has been crazy with activities.  But I have a little down time, so I'm back!

So here are some randoms and catch ups:

* One of the reasons I haven't posted a lot lately is because I am out of photo space on blogger.  Which means I have to upload photos to another site then upload them to blogger.  Ugh.  So I have been using Facebook and photo bucket.  I like using Facebook more (it's faster), but then I feel like my pictures are so repetitive.  And there are pictures I might want to share on here that I wouldn't necessarily deem worthy of being on Facebook.

Does anyone else have this problem?  What do y'all do?  Upload your pictures straight to blogger or go through another medium?

* Zulily just had Toms on their site.  I looked at them both days they were up and contemplated getting Jackie boy a pair.  But I just wasn't sure.  Toms are great, but for a little boy?  I like my boy in his keds and white sandals.

I decided to ask Bech that night when I got home.  His answer was, "I think Toms are too old for him.  He can wear those later."

This is why we are married.  My husband loves smocked clothes and red Keds.  He even likes Jack's summer bubbles.  I love that man.

*  Side note, if you don't use Zulily, click on the link and sign up!  When you order from it, I will get a $15 credit!

* I finally used some of my Christmas money not too long ago. (I got some really cute dresses on sale at Anthro!)  When I paid, the man at the register (another side note, I didn't know men could work at Anthro!), he held up the $100 bill to the light.  I don't normally walk around paying in cash, much less $100's, but I felt this sudden compulsion to tell him how to distinguish counterfeit money from real money.

You know, cause I read Stacey and the Mystery Money when I was 10.

Thankfully, I kept that bit of knowledge to myself.  I don't think the lone man Anthro worker would have been amused.

But, seriously, that was a good book.  And it made me crave some old Babysitters Club books!

* Orient Expressed (no benefit to me if you click the link on this one!) just had a really big sale.  I love their clothes, but they don't often have great sales.  Ergo, I don't buy from them much.

But I was able to snatch a couple of cute outfits.  A reversible pumpkin tractor/Christmas tree long-all isn't pictured, but I am in love with this cowboy shirt and cowboy smocked long-all.

* I have been obsessed lately with looking for clothes for Jack.

Actually, that's not true.  I have always been obsessed.  But it's gotten worse.  And there are so many cute outfits to be bought!  My mom hit up a local boutique's after Christmas sale, and, thanks to iphone picture messages, I got some really cute things for next fall and winter!  I will have to share pictures soon.

* We have had people over a bunch lately and I love it.  Partly because I love to have people over and spend time with friends, but partly because having people over is great motivation to clean our house!  I am sort of a neat freak, so our house is usually pretty tidy.  But I am bad about cleaning--sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing counter tops.  So yay for friends motivating me to do so!

I have some picture posts coming soon.  I actually uploaded the pictures, and just want to add the captions!

Randoms

Next week is Mardi Gras break, and I could not be more ready for it.

Let's take a moment right now and think about the concept of Mardi Gras break...absolutely brilliant.  I get a week off now, and a week off for Easter.  I am so thankful for that!

So since I am currently brain dead (it's been a long week), I am just going to update with some randoms.

* We met with the session a couple of weeks ago.  We are set to join the church now!  We love our church here.

* We are also going to a Wednesday night community group/Bible study through the church.  I am loving it.  The family who hosts it has 5 children and a baby on the way.  I love just being in their house!

* Jack has been so grumpy lately.  I think his eye teeth are coming in right now.  He has been waking 30 minutes to an hour early in the morning.

* But he has also been so fun in so many other ways.  He has been talking more and more.  I love his little voice!  And he has been playing jokes on us...I love his little sense of humor!

* This weekend, we are going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras!  This is my first Mardi Gras.  A lot of Mississippi people celebrate Mardi Gras, but my family really never did.  We will be there Saturday and Sunday and will get to see several parades.  Plus, we will spend lots of time with family.

* Tomorrow is a half day at school.  I am hoping to get Jack home, sans nap.  That way I can put him in the crib and crawl into bed myself!  There are few things I love more than naps!

* I have been doing really well with my menu planning.  Until tonight.  So tonight was eat at Cane's night.  Oh well, it worked!

That's all.  I'm going to finish my episode of Dance Moms and go to bed.  Only 1 more day until break!!!

Weekend update

We had a wonderful (and warm!) weekend.

My sister and her fiance came to Baton Rouge for the weekend.

We cooked burgers and just hung out Friday night.

I had to eat one of Jack's treats from KK--Janie's cookies.  I don't know how they do it, but these Brookhaven cookies are the best!

Saturday, Bech worked during the day, so Katy, Dave, Jack, and I headed to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to register!  Katy has registered for china and such at the local stores, but hadn't done all of the appliances and gadgets yet.

We came home and Jack took an epic nap.

After he woke up, we headed out again.  Katy and I wanted to check out Anthro and Urban, so the boys played with the train table at Barnes and Noble.

We finished up the night with dinner at Sammy's Grill.  Crawfish season just started, and Sammy's is supposed to be the place to go in Baton Rouge.  And it was SO good!  Bech and I are wimps, though...we could barely split 5 pounds!

Sunday was a beautiful warm day.  We had a long service at church (communion Sunday), and Jack did not take a great nap when he got home.

So what better way to cheer up a grumpy boy than snowcones!

This was Jack's first official snowcone.  He tasted some last year, but this year he got one all to himself.  He was a fan.  But very serious about eating.

I got the usual...strawberry shortcake with cream.  So good.  Every time.

We headed to the park for some swinging, sliding, and walking.

Then Bech dared to ask if we were going to watch the super bowl.

Really, Bech?  The Crawley's are in mourning.  Does their grief mean NOTHING to you?

Needless to say, I opted for Downton instead of the Super Bowl.

I think it was the better decision.
