Midweek Confessions

I know...it's been a while since I posted.  I have had a crazy past couple of weeks.  And with the holidays coming up, things are just going to keep being crazy!

I'm linking up with "E, Myself, and I" today for Midweek Confessions.  So here's what I have to confess this week:

* Last week, a student answered a pretty easy question in Bible (or at least, that's what I thought).  Her answer was wrong.  I responded, "Wow, I didn't think it was possible to answer that question wrong, but you just did."  Oops...perhaps a bit harsh for a 7th grader!

* We really need groceries.  But Bech has been staying late at work to get ready for a wood fire this weekend, and I really don't want to go to the store with Jack.  So we are just scrounging around.  Last night, I made a box of Annie's Mac&Cheese (that we had bought for Jack).

* I did, however, manage to run into a local store for some peppermint ice cream.  I can't help it--I love Blue Bell Peppermint!  And they don't sell Blue Bell in Vermont, so I've been missing it.  So no real groceries, but I did get my ice cream!

Alright, that's all for this week!  Check out the other link ups!

Midweek Confessions

Midweek Confession time!

* Well, Jack was sick yesterday so I was home with him.  I could have gotten a lot done, but instead I watched a "Murder, She Wrote" episode and took a nap (during his morning nap).  Then we went to the library (don't worry, he wasn't really that sick, but he still had to stay home for 24 hours) and checked out fun Fall books!

*I know I was sooo ready to be back down South, but I am really missing Vermont right now.  It's in the 80's in Baton Rouge right now.  In Vermont, it's starting to be sweater and boots weather, the leaves are starting to change, and the apples are ready for picking (not to mention fresh apple cider).

But I know that once winter rolls around, I will be quite happy to be in the South.  No down coats, no snow boots, no freezing on the way to class!

* I am going home this weekend (to see my brother) and I am going to have a snowcone from Ms. Gussies.  Um, excited would be an understatement.  I love Brookhaven snow cones.

* I have been breaking Southern clothes rules right and left.  I know, it's awful.  But it's been so darn hot here and Jack looks so cute in his seersucker.  Plus, I asked a few people here what they thought and they said you can stretch the rules here.

* While lesson planning during my off periods on Tuesday, I definitely listened to a Christmas Pandora station.  What can I say?  I'm ready for the holiday season!

That's all for this week!

Midweek Confessions

Midweek Confession time!

*  Lunch at school is right after 4th period.  Honestly, starting 3rd (maybe even 2nd) period, all I can think about is lunch.  I do think I am justified in that (1) I eat breakfast at 6:30 a.m. and (2) my school has an AMAZING dining hall that I get to eat in free!  Or at least that's what I tell myself so that I don't feel like a big fattie...

* Yesterday, I had to come home half day and take care of sick Jack.  I should have/could have gotten so much done...Latin and Greek translations, lesson plans, more unpacking.  Did I?  Of course not!  I curled up in bed and napped.  And it was wonderful!

* I have had my new (to me) washer and dryer for 3 1/2 weeks and the joy has still not worn off.

*  I am back on weight watchers (I took a break over the summer) as of this Monday.  I definitely ate some mini Hershey bars for a snack today.  Oh well...they're my points so I can use them however I want.  It did mean I had to have a pretty small dinner, but I think it was worth it.

*  I have so much going on, yet I still make watching "Secret Life" and "Bunheads" each week a priority.  Really?  How old am I--15?

That's all I have this week!  Link up at "E, Myself, and I."

Midweek Confessions

Midweek Confession Time!  Head over to "E, Myself, and I" to read more/link up!

* I have been deliriously happy about my new (to us) washer and dryer.  Ohmylanta, I love being able to laundry in my own house!  I have done 6 loads since Sunday.

* Tuesday, at new teacher orientation, the teachers at my lunch table were talking about how they don't let their kids watch ABC Family and Disney because of the content of a lot of the shows.  Um, probably not the best time to throw out there that I loved watching the Bachelorette this summer, right?

Oh, but I did.

And nobody said anything in response.  Awkward.

* Piggybacking off of that, is anyone else in Bachelorette withdrawal?  I am!

* I am dealing with this withdrawal by using the Olympics to fill the void.  But I get so sad when anyone, American or not, messes up!  Doesn't your heart just break for them?  They have all worked so hard and I want all of the competitors to do well!  Does that make me un-patriotic?

* I feel like a little girl getting ready for school as I'm getting dressed for teacher orientation!  I am so nervous--I want to dress cute, but not too cute, and look professional at the same time.  Any other teachers out there analyze their outfits this much?

* Last night I attempted to play "smize" in Words with Friends.  Um, sorry, Tyra--that is not a real word!

Mmmkay, well that is all I have for today!

Midweek Confessions

Time for Midweek Confessions.  Head on over to "E, Myself, and I" to link up or read more.

- Last night I didn't want to make anything in my half unpacked (oh, let's be honest here, most of the way unpacked--I have no excuse!) kitchen, so I grabbed some Arby's for dinner.

- Then I watched "Pretty Little Liars."  I would like to blame my 19 year old sister for that choice, but I suppose I should assume responsibility seeing as she wasn't even with me.

- I contemplated watching "The Bachelor Pad" on Monday.  I am thankful to say that I resisted that temptation...but the previews made it look interesting!

- I unpacked Jack's room first (everything's done except for hanging pictures on the walls!) so that I could close him in there to play if I need to shower or unpack a box.  Does that make me a bad mother?

That's all for this week!  Join in!

Midweek Confessions

I haven't joined in on "Midweek Confessions" in a couple of weeks because of moving and everything, so I thought I would join in with "E, Myself, and I" this week!

* While we were getting packed, we definitely stuck Jack in a pack and play, threw some toys in, and threw in some puffs whenever he would fuss.  Oh well...it worked!

* Few things have made me happier lately than the return of Abby and "Dance Moms."

* We are having a family party for Jack on Sunday for his birthday, and I really haven't done much for it.  I had lots of grand plans, but the fact that we are just so exhausted from the move has sort of deflated my enthusiasm.

* I have had 5 snow cones since I have gotten into Mississippi.  And they were all really good.

*  But I have not had any sushi from Little Tokyo yet.  Seriously, who am I?  That is so not like me.  But we are going to Jackson tomorrow so I will get some soon!

* I have been doing cartwheels across my parents foyer, just like I used to in high school.

I guess that's all I have for today!  Check out the others.

Midweek Confessions

Today I'm linking up with "E, Myself, and I" for Midweek Confessions!

- I finally got a Twitter.  Part of my reasons were good--I wanted to follow Keller, Piper, etc.  But I also really wanted to follow all of the Dance Moms...I have sunk to new lows!

- Speaking of embarrassing tv habits--I am watching the Bachelorette this season.  What can I say, I love Emily!

- Sometimes, on Pinterest, I love a pin and go to repin it, only to notice it was repinned from me in the first place.

- I have given up on counting WW points this week.  We are eating out or eating with other people too many nights this week.  I am still watching what I eat, but just not putting the points in!

- I don't even bother making my bed anymore in the morning.  Our place is such a mess right now, that the bed seems like the least of my problems!

So there we go!  Check out the others, too!

Midweek Confessions

My favorite time of the week is here...Midweek Confessions!  I'm linking up with "E, Myself, and I," so head over there to check out other confessions.

* I hope this one isn't TMI, but Bech has the stomach virus.  And, bless his heart, but last night my biggest worry was him throwing up on my Anthropologie bed spread.  I was worried about him also, but come on...an Anthro bed spread?  You don't want to mess that up!

* Somehow in the past two weeks, I managed to read two books for fun.  Beth asked in another comment what I was reading.  I read two books by Louise Penny.  They're mysteries set in Quebec and they're really good!

 * Now that the semester is over, I have started religiously checking for my grades to be posted online...I feel like a college freshman!

* I am counting down the days until we get back to Mississippi.  And not just because I am ready to see my family), but also because I am ready to eat a snowcone.  There is seriously nothing in the world like a snowcone from Brookhaven.  I am also ready for a diet cherry limeade from Sonic.  I love my family, I really do.  I just love food second.

* I need a pedicure...badly.  To some of you, that may not seem like a confession.  All I can say is, you must not know my mother!

That's all for this week.   Head over to "E, Myself, and I" to join the fun!

Midweek Confessions!

Midweek Confession time!  Head over to "E, Myself, and I" to read others (or to link up!).

* Last night I was trying to make hummus, but Jack just wanted to be in the kitchen and into everything.  When I noticed him eating puffs off the floor, I just let him.  In fact, I added some yogurt melts to the mix.  Seriously...my child is not a puppy.  But when I gotta get stuff done, I guess anything goes...

* Friday is Jack's last day of daycare (or at least until August).  I should be happy (and I am), but I am also sad.  We have loved his daycare so much.  Plus, I love having some adult time away from Jack (I am totally counting work and class as adult time!).

* I had some down time in between class and work this afternoon, so I started some fun reading (in between chapters of a book for school).  I am almost done with my paper (well 2/3 of the way through).  And I have all day tomorrow to work on it.  So that means I have time to read a novel, right?  Yeah probably not...

Not too much exciting going on around here, so those will have to suffice...

Midweek Confessions

Today, I'm linking up with "E, Myself, and I" for Midweek Confessions.

- When I do embarrassing things throughout the week (which, let's just be real here, is often!), I find myself secretly excited that I get to post it in Midweek Confessions.  Is it even okay to confess concerning confessions?

- Case in point:  I bought a new hairbrush this week.  That may not be that exciting, but it will be when you hear how old my last brush was.  Any guesses?  Oh, try 9 years.  Yes, that is disgusting.  Yes, I am completely embarrassed.  Yes, my mother is probably dying as she reads this.  But, I'm kind of enjoying being able to confess about it!

- And for yet another week, my house is a wreck.  There is a pottery wheel in my hallway.  Oh well.

- Jack has been crawling for 1 1/2 months, and we just now got a baby gate for the stairs.  Before now we just put down a kitchen chair in front of the stairs.  Cause we're classy like that.

- I am doing weightwatchers, which means I can only eat a certain amount of points each day.  But I get some extra each day.  So I've been saving them for wings tonight!  Some people save their points for good quality foods--you know, a nice steak out, a margarita.  I'm going for wings.

Ah, I feel better now!

Midweek Confessions

Time for Midweek Confessions!  I'm linking up with "E, Myself, and I."

- So I'm doing WeightWatchers right now (which I love, but that's a side note).  Last night we had a "S'mores" event for graduate housing.  I didn't eat dinner so that I could eat s'mores.  Pretty sure that's not a good dieting technique...

- But if I loose ten pounds by Saturday (10 lbs in 1 month!), Bech will shave off his beard.  And, sadly, that is a better motivator than smaller sizes in clothes...

- My house is disgusting.  Like seriously, it's the messiest it's ever been.  I have pulled out boxes and clothes (to start the packing process), and it's ridiculous.

- Which brings up another strange quirk of mine.  I love to pack.  And I love to pack way before it's necessary.  I used to pull out my camp trunk at least a month before I left.

- I know this isn't Bech's midweek confession time, but I'm going to confess for him.  He hates to pack and puts it off til the last minute possible.  The last two times we have moved, he has not packed his stuff until the last day--which obviously stresses me out to no end.  But we will NOT be doing that this time around!

- I didn't take Easter pictures of Jack.  I know...it's his first Easter!  But it was cold out that day (I do live in Vermont).  So maybe next week or the next, I am going to stage pictures.  Is that wrong?

- I also didn't give him anything for Easter.  He's too little to know.  I figured if I got something, it would really just be about me.  Next year, I promise I will give him something and I will actually take pictures on Easter.  I will redeem myself!

Ya'll should link up, too!

Midweek Confessions

Midweek Confession time!  I'm linking up with "E, Myself, and I."

*  I found out via facebook that Andrew Peterson had  a concert in Jericho, VT, Sunday night...15 minutes away!  And then I cried.  Seriously, real tears.  Because I was so upset.  I need to get my priorities in order...

*  But it gets better.  Then I emailed Andrew Peterson and asked him to dinner at our house.  That's normal right?  Needless to say, I have not heard back from Andrew (and probably never will, unless its in the form of a restraining order!).

* I was so excited last night when Chloe did well on "Dance Moms."  Goodness, I love that show!

* I just added Franks hot sauce to my weight watchers mac n' cheese...not bad...

* I think I would add Franks or Louisiana Hot Sauce to almost anything.  Maybe I should start trying...

Well, I think that's about it.  I feel like I have been boring (read: not embarrassing!) this week!

Midweek Confessions

It's time for Midweek Confessions!  I am linking up with "E, Myself, and I."

* Friday at Latin Day, Jack was practicing walking (while holding my hands) and hit the gym floor hard.  He had a pretty nasty bruise for a few days.  I felt so bad, but I was also so embarrassed that I let him fall in front of all of my professors!  What kind of mother am I?

* I then proceeded to call the pediatricians and leave a message for the nurse.  Great--I have become that mother who calls over the smallest things.  I always claimed I would not do that!

* Last week, E, the link up host, left a comment that she loves Bech and my names--made my day!

* Sometimes I go to my humor board on Pinterest and laugh at all my pins.

* I just noticed that there is spit up on my shoe.  Gross.  But I have yet to make any effort to clean it off.  Oh well...

Ya'll should join in...it's very cathartic!

Midweek Confessions

I'm linking up again this week with "E, Myself, and I" for Midweek Confessions.

* I am starting a diet today.  So I finished off the ice cream in my freezer last night.  Makes total sense, right?  I mean, I don't need any distractions so I might as well eat it before hand.

* My class today got cancelled and I am upset about that.  Seriously...who get's upset about a cancelled class?  But I am prepared for it and I would like to go and learn.  Oh well...

* I love the show "Dance Moms."  I totally judge people who watch Jersey Shore, Real Housewives, and whatever that stupid Kardashian show is called, but yet I love me some Abby Lee Miller.  And even though Maddie is a better dancer, I like watching Chloe dance more.  She's just a better performer, I think.  Anyone else watch the show?

* I mentioned that I had Pinkberry yogurt for the first time in my last post.  But I didn't mention the fact that ate it 4 times over 48 hours.  Um...that's a little ridiculous!  At least one time it was for a meal...

See--Jack likes Pinkberry, too!

Midweek Confessions

I skipped Midweek Confessions last week because of the job interview, but I'm back this week!  Here's the link to the host site.

* You know those moms/families who bring a fussy baby to eat at a restaurant?  Um, well I have become that mom.  Between going to Baton Rouge and my family coming here, we have eaten out a lot.  And my normally sweet baby has had his fussy moments.  No crying, which is good, but lots of throwing puffs on the ground.  Oh well, we left good tips...that makes it all better, right?

* I am presenting a paper Friday morning at a conference, and I am TERRIFIED.  You would think after doing debate and speech all through high school, teaching, and various other events where I have had to speak, I would be over it.  I mean, seriously, I am just reading the paper.  That's it.  But still, terrified!  Any one else hate speaking in public?

* I have a major crush on Ben from Parks and Recreation.  I love him, and I love Leslie and him together!

* I buy canned baby food.  Some of you may be thinking that this is a silly thing to confess or feel bad about.  But I really wanted to make Jack's baby food.  Buying cans or packets feels like such a waste.  And, yeah, we recycle the cans, but not buying at all would be better than recycling.

But I tried making it for a couple of weeks, and I never could get the consistency right on the veggies.  So we just started buying it all canned.  I do cloth diapers, so at least I am being earth friendly on that front!  I guess when you are a student and you work while being a mom, you can't do everything the way you want!  But I wish I could.

Can't wait to read everyone else's confessions!

Midweek Confessions

Today, I am linking up again with "E, Myself, and I" for Midweek Confessions.

- As a working, breastfeeding mom (so thus a pumping mom), I have started measuring the success of each day in ounces. It's sad that my mood changes based on that.

- This week, I scored 132 points on a word from "Words With Friends"...my life may be complete.

- I have seen people cross out words on blogs like so for months now.  I have always wondered how they did it.  I just now noticed that it's a function at the top of the page, right beside bold, italic, and underline.  Please tell me this a new feature, and that I'm not just dumb or unobservant.

- This is a good confession, but it's a confession none the less...I have a job interview next week!  I am flying to interview for a Latin teaching job.  I hope I get it, but I am trying to be real about the possibility that I might not.

And because he's just so darn cute, here is a picture of Baby Jack...so serious!

Midweek Confessions

Today, I am linking up again with E, Myself, and I for Midweek Confessions!

- E mentioned that she is using breastfeeding as her only form of exercise...me, too.  I really would love to exercise, but with grad school and 3 part time jobs, it's not really a priority.

- Jack needs a bath.  He hasn't been bathed since SUNDAY...gross.  But again...I am really busy.   Oops!

- I am presenting a paper in about 3 weeks.  Am I ready at all?  Nope.  Am I that concerned?  Um, not really.  Probably should work on some motivation...

- But I am way more excited about the fact that I will (hopefully) by flying down south in a week and a half.  My first thought--will the snow cone stands be open?  I LOVE Brookhaven snow cones.  There really is nothing better.

- I am a Christmas money hoarder.  I have been known to not spend my Christmas money until July, even August.  I have Anthro gift cards and money just waiting to be spent.  And I have things I would like.  But I can't do it...I just can't spend it.  Part of the fun for me is just thinking over and over what I could buy!

- Speaking of hoarding (I can not believe I am about to confess this), I have a bottle of perfume that I received for Christmas in 2nd grade (sorry, Mom--I know you are DYING as you read this!).  There is the tiniest bit of perfume in there.  And I can't bear to get rid of it, because the smell reminds me of being 7 years old.  I clearly need help.

Alright, I better end this, before I share more really embarrassing things...

Midweek Confessions

I did this a few weeks ago and had fun, so I thought I would like up again!

- I have SO much work I could/should be doing (working on a paper, getting ready for my french test Saturday), but instead I am making sure I am caught up on "Downton Abbey."  Which I am, and it is seriously one of my favorite shows ever!\

 - Last night, Bech and I got in bed at 9!  Ridiculous!  We watched a couple of episodes of "Parks and Recreation" (we just found out about this show and we both like it--it is hard to find a show we both agree on!), so we didn't go to bed until 10:30...that makes it a little better, right?

- I washed Jack's diapers yesterday and realized I was missing one.  I had a sneaking suspicion that was confirmed as soon as I looked in his diaper bag.  Yup, diaper from Friday night in the wet bag...GROSS.

- Everyone in Vermont is so sad because there is barely any snow this winter.  Me?  I am so happy about it!  The snow is beautiful, but cold!

Okay, better go work on everything I SHOULD be doing!

Midweek Confessions

Today I'm liking up with "E, Myself, and I" for Midweek Confessions.

So here are my confessions for the week:
* On Sunday, Jack spit up on me.  Some got in my hair.  Instead of washing it out, I let it dry, then proceeded to straighten it.  Because straightened spit up hair isn't gross or anything, right?

* I just reread "Catching Fire."  Even though I have tons of other stuff to do and tons of other books to read, I chose to reread "Catching Fire."  I am going to blame this on how good the book is.  And I would have reread the first and third books in the series, but they are checked out of the library right now.

*  I just ate chips for lunch.  Gross, right?  But I'm at work and I didn't have any thing to bring for lunch.  So chips it is!

That's all for this week!
