What I'm Loving Now

Also titled:  How I'm getting through this semester.

This semester is all sorts of crazy.  I am in my student teaching placement 5 days a week, taking 4 classes at night (but only on 3 nights, so that's good!), coaching a Mathcounts team, and tutoring.  Oh yeah, plus being a mom and wife!  Needless to say, blogging is the last thing on my mind.  

Actually, it's when I'm really busy that I discover my favorite things to do.  And it's not blogging.  It's also not watching tv, except for the bachelor.  It is reading.  And Nick's journey to love, because everyone knows that Finland is the perfect place to fall in love.

But I do miss my blog some.  This week is February break.  They do this here in Vermont and a few other New England states.  I thought it was so kids could go skiing, but I just googled it and guess I am wrong.  Apparently it harkens back to the days of the high cost of heating.  Well, whatever it's for, we get of school for a week in February and then again for a week in late April.  Jack is out of school at the same time, but Gil's daycare is still open.  So Jack is home with me, while I attempt to get some major school work done.  We are trying to have some fun too, with playdates and the Lego Batman movie.  Oh, and lots of legos and reading!

In typical Marley fashion, I am going to post in list format because LISTS.  Seriously, lists are the best and I love them.  So here's what is keeping me sane during this crazy semester:

1. Kindergarten Jack

Jack is so much fun right now.  He can play actual board games (like Catan Junior)--game changer.  He can read.  He is funny.

2. Toddler Gil

I'd be lying if I said Gil was as much fun as Jack currently.  The terrible two's are upon us!

But, Gil is talking more and more, and he's pretty hilarious.  He also plays a mean air guitar and air drums and just loves music in general.  Plus. those eyes?  He's a heartbreaker for sure!

3. Snow Days

We haven't had a crazy hard winter this year, which I have mixed feelings about.  I really do love the snow.  But I don't love when it feels like your face is going to freeze off.  We have had a couple of good snows, plus we've had two snow days this winter!  Even though I've still had homework on those days, I was thankful to get to play at home with my boys, making forts and eating snow ice cream.

4.  Aslan is on the move!

Slowly but surely, things are warming up around here.  Granted, this is a little on the early side.  And I wouldn't put it past Vermont weather to have a snow storm in April!  But we did enjoy the 50 degree weather this past Saturday.  We played at Oakledge (of course, it's my favorite) and spent time with friends.

5.  Bullet Journaling

This is legit how I'm keeping sane.  I started Bullet Journalling at the beginning of the year, and this journal has become my lifeline.  Everything I need to do is written down (in a color coded system).  This notebook has all of my lists!  It's how I'm getting everything done and done on time (sometimes even early!).

If you are interested in bullet journaling, check out this site or just google it.  I found lots of cute ideas and layouts that way. I would describe bullet journaling as getting to create a planner exactly how you like it and incorporate any time of list, note taking, or tracking into that planner.  I have never really gotten the hang of or enjoyed using a digital system, and I haven't just loved any of the planners I've bought in the past.  But this allows me to create a planner that works perfectly for me.  Plus, I incorporate washi tape and cute pen colors to make it fun!

6. Marakesh Oil

I got this in my fabfitfun box this past December.  This hair oil is a great example of why fabfitfun is a good idea.  I would have NEVER gotten this hair oil on my own.  But now that I have and use it, I LOVE it.  It makes my hair shiny but not oily.  I have been making an effort to curl or straighten my hair every day, so I will look nice for student teaching.  This hair oil helps!

I am sure there are many other things I am forgetting, but that's all I can remember for today.  Now, back to homework!

5 on Friday

Whew, long time no blog.  I've been keeping my book posts up to date because they are a great resource to look back on.  In the craziness of this semester, the blog has fallen by the wayside.  But I am writing this post on a Thursday, and, as of right now, I only have one more assignment due!  I'm taking a Praxis test next week too, but it's the ELA one (and, thanks to my incredible ELA content professor, I feel VERY well prepared!).

So I am celebrating by posting, and it's my favorite type of post...5 on Friday!

O     N     E

As I just mentioned, I am almost done with this semester.  It has been so hard, but I have also loved it.  One thing that has helped me get through this semester is the wonderful people I get to learn with and from!

This is one of my classes at a local Pho restaurant.  Seriously, I have an incredible cohort.  There are 8 of us doing the middle level MAT, and I think each of my fellow classmates is pretty incredible.  I am so thankful for all of our group texts and social events.

It's December, which, in Vermont, means SNOW!

Last year, we had a really mild winter.  I was sort of thankful for that.  It's nice to not be totally frozen all winter.  But I missed the snow!  I am glad that we have already gotten some snow here.  It's snowing a little today, and we have snow on the forecast for this weekend and next week.  Vermont is just magical looking all covered with snow.

Plus, it never hurts to have a white Christmas!

A couple of days before Thanksgiving, Bech and I had a cocktail party for some church friends.  Bech made rosemary gimlets, and I laid out a cheese board (complete with baked brie!).  Friends brought more appetizers and drinks (and no kids!).

We had the BEST time.  We have a great group of church friends, but we haven't gotten to spend a lot of time all together this fall.  The guys do guys nights, and the girls do girls nights (which is almost always just an excuse to drink margaritas and eat nachos together #nachoaveragechurch).  It was wonderful to just spend time all together.

Plus, the baked brie did not hurt.

F     O     U     R

I am almost completely done with my Christmas shopping!  Woohoo!

I know Christmas shopping is stressful for some people, but I really enjoy it.  The only part that is stressful is paying for it all.  This year, though, I tutored a girl for the PSAT this fall, and put all of that money aside so that I could pay for most of the Christmas presents.  It worked out really well.

And it's perfect timing, because we head to Mississippi a week from Saturday.  We are all SO excited.  I am extra excited because this is Gil's first flight to have his own seat.  I am going to bring his car seat with us and have him sit in it during the flight.  Has anyone else ever done that?  Any tips?

F     I     V     E

I've written before about my love for Advent.  I love this season right before Christmas. 

Last year, we read through this book (by Ann Voskamp) together, and we are doing it again this year.  I love this book so much.  There have been a few nights where I am holding back tears as I read the final paragraph.  I can tell a huge difference in Jack's comprehension and engagement with the book this year.  He is listening and is talking about it afterward.  

If you are looking for a way to prepare for Christmas with your kids, I would highly suggest this book!

Life Update

Oh goodness, the last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind!  I haven't really talked about this on my blog, but I am, once again, a student.  I am doing a MAT program.  It's a year long, super intense program that will end with a masters in teaching AND teaching certification.  

Because of this, life is looking a whole lot different around our house these days.  Jack started kindergarten and he then stays for aftercare four days a week.  Thankfully, he is loving both kindergarten and aftercare!  Gil goes to Jack's old daycare.  It's takes a tad bit more driving, but we just love it and are so glad that Gil is there.  Bech is doing his job but having to do a lot more parenting duties, like dinner, solo bedtimes, dropping off kids at daycare.

And I have the craziest schedule of all!  I am at my internship (it will be my student teaching spot next semester) M/W/F.  Tuesdays, I am in class from 8:30 until 7:30 at night (with about 2 hours of breaks in between).  Thursdays, I only have class from 4:30 - 7:30.  It's exhausting and insane!

But we are making it!  And it's fall (MY FAVORITE) so we will soon be doing all of the fun fall stuff on the weekends.

I snapped this picture tonight during Redeemer Kids.  Jack just adores these two older girls at church, and they are sweet to him.  Seriously, he is such a ladies man.  He already has a girl in his class sending him home with pictures and homemade books!

Bech took Jack and Gil to the dentist solo.  It was Gil's first visit and he did great!  Bech was so sweet and took pictures for me.  It is hard to not be sad missing these little things--dentist and well visits, school field trips--but it helps to have Bech keeping me in the loop.

The weekend before school started, we headed 2 1/2 hours down south to Brattleboro to visit the Lugos and help celebrate Ashley and Theo's birthdays.  We had a blast.  It was a fun and relaxed weekend--perfect ending before starting the craziest semester ever!

So that's why I've been MIA lately.  I have a blog post in the works with my August books...I'll get that up soon.

First Day of Kindergarten

Oh, goodness, I have been dreading/looking forward to this day for so many months!  It is over (2nd day of kindergarten was today) and I can say that it was not that bad.  I only cried a little, and I think Jack had a great time (I knew he would).

Tuesday morning, we had a little visit the classroom day for the kids.  Jack's teacher created a scavenger hunt that led the kids all around the classroom.  Jack didn't really talk to the other kids but he did enjoy checking out the toys.  The other parents, Bech, and I all talked to each other and tried with little success to get our kids to meet.

Jack was SUPER excited to come back the next day, but a little nervous.

Alright, here's where I have to be honest.  I knew that we would be hurrying Wednesday morning.  I knew that we could be a little grumpy because it's morning.  So I staged these pictures last Friday at Jack's school.  Yup, we snuck in the school to take these pictures.  Mom of the year right here.

This picture, though, is all Jack.  He brought the apple and he posed himself up on that rock outside of his school.  This kid...

Also, we took Gil along.  Not the most photogenic kid out there.

I think we managed to get some sweet shots of Jackie boy.  He looks so old to me here!  We can't take first day of school pictures without our arms crossed.

Ah, so excited for kindergarten!!!

Thank goodness I took those pictures early, because it was pouring down rain yesterday morning.  And of course, I read the wrong bus schedule, and we almost missed the bus.  We were, luckily, ready early (because I wanted to give Jack time to slowly get on the bus!) and were able to run over to the bus just in time.  Jack got confused when he got on, so he is now not the biggest bus fan (let's hope being on time today helped that!).

Lately...

As I write this, we are soaking up the sun and drinking margarita's in San Diego.  And I know that we are having a blast.  I will share all about it when we get back, but I thought I would let you know what we've been up to before our trip!

First of all, check out this email from my sweet husband.  Seriously, I have a keeper. 

And he's right...God has always had it planned, and He's not going to stop now.  It would be offensive for me to not trust that!

At Jack's daycare, they celebrated summer birthday's this past week.  I brought cupcakes and we all sang to Jack.  And he thought it was just grand.  Seriously.  I guess he's seen this happen with all of the other kids so he was a pro.

On Thursday this week, I just had to finish packing up my room.  So Jack and I took our time in the morning, folding clothes while watching the Today show and stopping for doughnuts.  My boy loves him some doughnuts.  And I love time with my Jackie.

Here's my room all packed up.  This has been such a rough week for me emotionally.  I love my job.  I love working with middle school kids.  And I never thought I would leave this job after a year.  Seeing my room all empty and bare was so hard.

Ohmylanta, has he grown!  Bech and I watched some old iphone videos the other night.  He has gone from a little baby, barely walking and saying so few words, to a toddler who runs and jumps and talks in complete sentences.

We're...

Moving!!!

I know, I know...you are thinking, wait, you just moved to Baton Rouge?

Yes, that is true.  And now we are moving again.

We knew our time in Baton Rouge was short (but I was hoping it was a little bit longer than this).  Bech's plan was to apply to graduate school full force next year.  He felt like he wasn't ready to apply this year.  But he did apply to one school, Penn State.  It was just a practice application (his words, not mine), but it was his number one choice.  He's been interested in their graduate program since undergrad.

Back in February, we found out that Bech got into Penn State, but he was on waiting list for funding.  And so I thought that was it, we probably weren't going to move.

But through an amazing series of events, we found out about 3 weeks ago that Bech has full funding for an MFA in ceramics at Penn State in the fall!

So this August, we will be making this 1,300 mile trip back up North!

Yeah, you all are jealous that I will be driving this distance with Jack.  I know, I know.

Seriously, though, car tips for 2 year olds are very much needed!

We are moving to State College, Pennsylvania, a town of about 40,000 (not counting the college students).  Bech's program is two years long.

Here's State College--right in the middle of rural Pennsylvania.  2 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh, 3 1/2 from Philadelphia, and 4 hours from D.C.

I am really excited about being in State College, PA.  It is supposed to be a really cute, really safe town.  There is a PCA church there and I think I have found a daycare for Jack (we're on the waiting list).  I have started the job hunt (please pray!).

I am also excited about having four seasons again!  I can't wait for fall...I have already looked up the local corn mazes and harvest fests.  I am not necessarily looking forward to winter, but I am excited to see what Jack thinks about the snow.

Most of all, I am so glad that Bech is going to grad school.  He is beyond ready for this.  He has worked so hard to get to this point, and I can't wait to see the way he changes and grows as an artist.

More good news:  State College has a Target. 

Bad news:  no Sonic.

Because, let's be honest, that's the first thing I looked up.

Finally, I'm really sad about leaving my job.  I LOVE the school I teach at (and I love my students, although they may not always believe that).  

So there's my big news (see, I'm NOT pregnant).  I don't know how many northerners read my blog, but I would welcome any and all advice/tips/stories/recommendations about State College (or even Pennsylvania in general)!

Update

I feel like all I do these days is sporadic updates.  Oh well...my main purpose for this blog is to have a scrapbook of sorts to look back on.  So updates it is!

The school year is winding down to a close.  I only have 12 more teaching days!  Then I have about 5 more days at school (some of those half days), helping with exams and study halls.  I have almost everything ready (a few more quizzes to type up!).  And we have a few fun school things coming up (awards day, fun chapels, etc.). 

But the kids are READY!  Seriously, they all have major spring fever.  Let's hope they can make it the last couple of weeks until the break.

And then there are a few more big upcoming events.   My sister is getting married in less than 2 months!  Ah...that's so soon!  Most of her big parties are done, but soon the wedding weekend will be here.

The only pre-wedding event left is her bachelorette weekend in 2 1/2 weeks, which I'm in charge of (along with my little sister).  We have done most of the basic planning, but now it's time to make all of the little details fall into place.  I am sure that I will dedicate a whole post to the weekend after it's over!

Jack will turn two in less than two months, too! (There were too many 2's in that sentence!)  I can't believe my baby is going to be two.  We are going to keep his birthday pretty simple, but I still have some planning to do for that.

I've been doing weight watchers for a little over three weeks now.  I've used weight watchers in the past and I really like it.  So far, I'm 6 pounds down...yay!  I am working towards Katy's wedding.  I've got to be a cute matron of honor!

But, I have to be honest, I am craving something fattening!  All I want right now is a big plate of hot wings or a margarita.  So embarrassing, right?

Instead, I just ate low fat pad thai.  It was good, but no hot wings!

We've also been crazy at our house lately.  We've got a lot going on right now and some exciting news (No we're NOT pregnant!).  I will share that on here soon!

But for now, I'll just go eat a banana or something healthy :(

2013 Goals

Last year, I made 12 goals.  My 12 in 12 list.  I am going to do an update soon about how they went, but I wanted to make a new list this year.

I like the idea of having goals, instead of resolutions.  If I don't accomplish them, it's okay.  But it still gives me something to work towards.

1.  Read the Bible/pray DAILY  

This was a goal last year.  It will continue to be a goal every year.  I had times where I did great at this, but I had a lot of times where I didn't!  I got a new Bible from Bech for Christmas, and I am excited in using it in quiet times.

2. Lose 15 pounds

Last year, my goal was to lose weight, and I did!  But I have a matron of honor dress to look good in, so I would love to get back down to what I weighed in college.  Plus, there are several dresses from then I would love to be able to wear again.

3. Run a 5k race 

Okay, I know lots of people run half and full marathons, but I am just aiming for a 5k.  I am not a runner, but I would love to run some.  I downloaded the Couch to 5K app for my phone, so I am planning to work through that.

4. Spend one-on-one time with Bech

Our neighbors have a boy 1 day younger than Jack, so we have been swapping babysitting with them.  It has been great.  Bech and I have had some fun dates already, and I want to keep them up  in the coming year.

5. Be more consistent with my blog

I have no desire to be a professional blogger, but I do want to keep up regularly with posts.  I love being able to look back on what we've been up to.  I would love to aim for 2 to 3 posts a week.

6.  Learn to make cheese

I got a cheese-making kit for Christmas from Bech's mom.  I have been wanting to learn to make cheese for several years, but I didn't really need to in Vermont (there was such good local cheese!).  Well, Baton Rouge is a different story.  I am starting out with some soft cheeses--mozzarella, ricotta, goat--then moving to hard cheeses.  I will definitely chronicle the adventure on here!

7.  Meal plan

I want to have set menu plans every week.  I hate not eating until Jack is in bed.  That's too late, plus Jack doesn't get to eat with us!  I want to consistently eat at a normal time and have a planned menu.

8.  Pass my comps!

I have to retake the poetry part of my translation exams, and then I will be able to take the history and philology parts.  I want to get those done!  I am ready to be finished!  So part of this goal will be to study for 7 hours each week.

9.  Learn about my camera

This was a goal last year that was NOT completed!  Bech and I bought a Nikon D3100 before Jack was born.  I use it a lot, but only in automatic.  I really do want to understand aperture, shutter speed, and all of the rest.  I would love to use this camera to the fullest.

I think that's it.  I have a busy year ahead!  

I'm still alive...

I know, I have not blogged in forever.  We have been crazy lately!

Here's what we've been up to:

* I took the first part of my comps for my masters (and the hardest of the three tests!).  This test is a sight translation--two Greek passages (poetry and prose) and two Latin passages (same).  I had to pass this one in its entirety (not like a 70% or anything like that) in order to take the other two.  I passed half--the prose section.  I was not surprised, but still sad.  I completely bombed the Greek poetry section.  Literally, Homer was probably rolling in his grave.  I was bummed, but then I ate the Ben and Jerry's ice cream that I had on hand, and life was good again.  

I can't take the exam again until January, so I am working on my translation in the mean time (and studying for the other two!).

* Jack is currently the daycare biter.  Ugh.  I don't know what to do about it!  He bit three people on Monday and one child today.  He gets mad because he wants a toy they have, and he reaches over and bites.  Total depravity, anyone?

Seriously, though, I have no idea how to deal with this.  They put him in "the thinking chair," but I'm not sure how much he understands.  If he did it at home (which he doesn't do), I would give his hand a pinch.  But they don't do physical punishment there (which I totally understand).  Any tips?  Anyone had the biter before?

* Bech and my 5 year anniversary is this Saturday.  We are going to New Orleans (to stay in Bech's parents condo), and Bech's parents are watching Jack.  I am really sad about leaving Jack.  I have only been away from him one night, and that was while we were moving (so I was too tired to even notice!).  

I am excited, though, about exploring New Orleans with Bech and not having to worry about naptime or enough snacks.  It will be fun to be kid free for a little bit!

*  Teaching is good, still, but hard!  Progress reports were this week, so I've had lots of not so fun emails with parents.  It is hard to tell parents that their child isn't doing so hot in my class.  The parents have, for the most part, been so great in their responses, and I am thankful for that!

I think that's all I have for tonight.  There is a Sophocles chorus that is needing my attention!

Life lately...

Yeah, me neither.

Needless to say, we have been busy around here!  I actually have a little bit of time to relax because Jack is sleeping.  He had a fever this morning, so we had to bring him home.  Bech came and got him and missed part of the morning at work; I got a sub for 8th period and came as soon I was finished with my other classes.  I don't know whats going on with Jack--he hasn't had a fever since he got home, but he took a 2 hour morning nap and he's been sleeping for 2 1/2 this afternoon.

Unfortunately, that means one of us is going to have to stay home with him tomorrow...we haven't figured that one out, yet!

Other than that, life is good.  Very busy, but good.  Here's what's been going on/random Baton Rouge observations:

1.  Our neighbors are about our age and have a boy 1 day younger than Jack.  We are doing babysitting swaps with them.  A week and a half ago, they watched Jack and we went out for some sushi!  We found a great place here in Baton Rouge.  It's not Little Tokyo, but it's pretty yummy.

2.  Bech was in a car wreck this past Saturday.  He is fine, it wasn't his fault, but the car is a little banged up.  I am so proud of him--he got on the phone Monday morning with USAA (the best insurance ever), dropped his truck off at a local body shop, and got a rental car.  So hopefully the truck will be fixed soon!

3.  I am still enjoying teaching, and still working hard!  I know that in  another week or two I will get ahead enough in lesson plans/quizzes/handouts/etc. that I won't have to do much work at home.  The only problem is I teach 1st through 4th, have three periods off, then teach 8th again.  So I will always have to do a little work at home, just to prepared for what I'm teaching!

4.  I have been listening to the radio some on the way to and from school...and I have heard "Pour Some Sugar on Me" 6 times in the past week and a half!  Really???  Any Baton Rouge readers want to enlighten me on this?  Why this song?  Is Def Leppard from here?  Anyway, don't worry, I promptly change the station when it comes on.

5. Jack is such a boy.  His nickname at daycare is "Destructo."  He can tear up a room in 5 seconds flat.  Oh goodness...

6. 1 1/2 until my translation comprehensive test...AHHH!!!  Bech and Jack are going to New Orleans this weekend, and I am going to stay home and get some hardcore studying/translating done.  I'm sad that I won't be with them, but I need to work on this!

Reflections on my first week of teaching...

I am done with my first week of teaching (we started last Wednesday).

Whew!  It is a lot of work!  I know I have taught before, but I had curriculum and less students!  This time, I am making up my Bible curriculum and adding to my Latin curriculum.  So lots of lesson planning and lesson creating!

There are also lots of little things you have to learn with teaching:  dining hall rules, recess duty, back to school night procedures, etc.  I am slowly getting the hang of all of these aspects of my new job.

I also have had to do a lot of work outside of school.  I have worked on lessons every night so far.  I think I am finally up to speed enough that I won't have to work every night.  I also have some planning periods, so that will definitely help.

That all seems so negative--I don't mean to seem like a Debbie Downer!  I am also really enjoying my job.  I teach sweet, smart kids.

I have SO many resources available to me!  I was copying papers the first day of school and asked some other teachers if there was a limit to how much I copied.  I was just imagining ABC--we couldn't copy too much because we had to get toner shipped in from the States!  So it is strange to just be able to make copies whenever I need them.

I love my co-workers.  I work with some really funny and kind teachers.  They have all been so quick to help me--and I need lots of help!  I feel like I am constantly asking questions.

So those are my thoughts so far.  I am sure I will have lots of challenges and (hopefully!) triumphs in the months to come!

I'm still alive...

...but just barely!

No, that's not totally true!  I had my first day of school yesterday and I survived.  But I was EXHAUSTED by the time it was over.  Today went a lot more smoothly.  I didn't have to check the schedule every second, I remembered some of the students names, I wasn't completely wiped out by the end of the day.

It is tough to be a teacher!  I have been at school for the past week and a half every day for school or training, then I come home and work on lesson plans (oh, and let's be honest, some Olympic watching!).

I am teaching 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students--that's a lot of names to remember!  My students are (for the most part) sweet.  I can already tell I am going to have some students that will be a little bit of a handful.  But I have my eye on them and we will nip that in the bud pretty quickly!

We have gotten a good amount of stuff done around the house lately.  Today we got our dining room chairs in.  When I find a chance to breathe, I will post pics...I LOVE them!

...and I'm done!

Today I took my LAST exam!  I still have to take some comprehensive tests, but I am completely done with my course work.  I am so glad!  But I am also brain dead.  So this post is just going to be random bullets...

* Now I am going to take a little break.  Oh, and pack up everything!  Bech's little brother arrived today, and his parents arrive tomorrow night.  I am excited to spend time with them and show Hunter around Burlington.

* Jack has been a total fussbudget the past couple of days.  His top two teeth are about to break through, and I think that is the reason for his grumpy attitude.

* He also took his first step!  He technically did it last Monday (April 30th) to Heather at daycare (but we were there to see it...thank goodness!).  Since then, he has done a step or two for us about once a day.  I would love for him to be walking by this summer, so I can take pictures of him walking on the beach--is that totally shallow of me?

* It is finally getting warm here in Vermont...thank goodness!  Today was in the 50's and rainy, but tomorrow is supposed to be warm (70's).  I am planning on taking Jack (and Hunter of course) for a walk down Church Street!

* Bech is sick (hopefully just a stomach bug).  I am praying that Jack and I do NOT get sick, too!

* I am watching Dance Moms Miama right now...LOVE this show.  I can't help it!

The Weekend...

For once I can honestly say we had a semi-slow weekend!

On Friday night, we headed to UVM for a Classics event.  Jack loved being ohhed over, and I enjoyed seeing classmates outside of class time.

Saturday we had NO plans.  Well, I was working on a paper all day.  But other than that, NO plans.  It was glorious.  I wore PJ's and didn't wash my hair.  Amazing, I tell you.

Today we had church then the library staff picnic.  Again, Jack enjoyed being fawned over.  When we have friends with babies, he is going to be in for a shocker.  Right now, he is the only baby around in a lot of our circles, and he eats up the attention.

And of course, I don't have pictures from any of these events.  Oh well!  There was a camera at the library picnic, so hopefully pictures will be put up on facebook, and I can add them here.

These past three or four weeks have been so busy and tough, but Bech and I are in the homestretch now.  I have 9 (almost 10!) pages of my paper written (I'm shooting for about 15) and I have my other two projects done.  All I have left is to study for a final and to give a baby shower for a friend this Saturday.  Not too bad!

Bech is finished making work for his art opening Friday!  So my house doesn't look so much like a pottery studio anymore...thank goodness.

And Jack is just being sweet, adorable Jack.  He's pretty good at it.

Someday Jack will kill me for this.  But this picture is of Jack "doing his business."  I am sure my mom is dying (I give my mom a bad wrap on my blog--she's really great, but seriously, she's probably dying right now!), but I think his little face when he poops is too funny.
